The Day After
Remember the 1983 movie, The Day After? This is a disturbing, rather graphical clip of two Atomic Bombs going off in Eastern Kansas. I remember being in 7th grade when this movie came out, during the Cold War. It seems that the danger zones to live in was the central plains. At least that is what I thought since most of our silos where there. Today, the conventional threat from another country, I feel to a nuclear holocaust is far less. However, the threat of a non-conventional terrorist attack using nuclear technology is far greater. And in comparison, the TV series Jericho portrays the approximate same region in Kansas in the movie The Day After, as a safe zone, where the danger area’s in our time is the major US cities. We live in a different age.
