Advanced User Account Option Settings

You can of course use the preference pane to set some attributes to user accounts without using the command line. Simply open Accounts in the System Preferences, and right click on the user name and choose “Advanced Options”. This will allow you to change the User ID, Group ID, Short Name, Login Shell, Home DIrectory location and Aliases. However, one thing to note, this method is only available in 10.5.
